The authors submit a social epidemiological investigation of the health status of the Romanypopulation: subjectively reported needs and use of health care by the group (n = 1526 subjects).The investigation is based on a database obtained from questionnaires distributed in selecteddistricts of the Czech Republic and data excerpted from health records of general practitionersfrom subjects who gave written consent to inspection of their health records (n = 715). The socialepidemiological study focused on investigation of the health status and social problems of theRomany ethnic minority was implemented in 1999-2001.
