The authors investigated 130 patients with herpes zoster. They confirmed its more frequentincidence in patients above the age of 60 years. The most frequent site (34.6%) was theinnervation area of thoracic nerves and the area of the trigeminal nerve (27.7%). They recorded24.6% complications associated directly with herpes zoster. Ramsay-Hunt’s syndrome wasrecorded in three subjects. They did not observe neuralgias in child patients and in patientswith malignant tumours. During hospitalization they administered to 128 (98.5%) patientsacyclovir by the i.v. route, to 27.3% longer than 5 days, with a favourable therapeutic effect,without undesirable side-effects.
