The author describes the course of the disease, differential diagnosis and treatment of a patientafter return from abroad. The causal agent of the disease are parasites of the genus Leishmania,the disease is transmitted by insect stings, the incubation periodmay be as long as months. Theauthor emphasizes the importance of the epidemiological history as well as reports on the stayin „less risky“ areas with regard to the long incubation period of the disease.
