Overview

Refeeding syndrome is a complex of metabolic abnormalities that arises as a result of too rapid initial phase of realimentation for chronic and/or sever malnourished patients. It is necessary to think about the possibility of refeeding syndrome in these cases, monitor the patient at the start of realimentation, administer reduced doses of the nutrition and adequately substitute deficient substrates as recommended.
