Overview
Altered metal tolerance in some patients develops in to hypersensitivity causing not onlya local but a general reaction in the organism. This pathological condition is very hard todiagnose. Epicutaneous tests are not convincing, but they are the only official tests for metalintolerance. Memory lymphocyte immunostimulation assay test (Melisa™) – modified test ofblastic transformation for metal antigens in ion configuration which enables monitoring of thealtered immune reaction on given materials – is a precise and reliable tool of diagnosis. Anotheralternative is electroacupuncture according to Voll – a very sensitive method. The results ofthese three methods in our study in patients with intolerance to some metal components indental materials were compared.
