The author discusses the hypothesis of so-called creative illness submitted in 1964 to 1970 byHenri Fréderic Ellenberger. His hypothesis, supported by references to the development of somegreat personalities is considered by the author an attempted revival of former concepts on a relationship between disease and creativity, in particular the so-called Promethean myth on thesuffering genius.
