Intesive Care Medicine - Special Article
Overview
Intensive care medicine is a complex, demanding and rapidly developing field combining the need for good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry or pharmacology with scientific evidence coming from clinical studies and, last but not least, personal, clinical experience. Especially for younger doctors, it may be difficult to comprehend the amount of information available today and to give them the appropriate weight to avoid treatment based on “fashion trends” or, vice versa, a nihilistic denial of any progress. In this special article we tried to offer an overview of freely available online resources and discussion forums which can help our readers to keep their knowledge up to date and which try to put this new information into a rational context.
