Overview
The authors present their findings on the current status of penile prostheses in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. They summarize the current treatment procedures and potential complications and their elimination. Special attention is paid to penile prosthesis implants in complicated cases.
The authors further give an insight into the mechanical reliability of the types of penile prostheses in use today, based on a long-term study, and the satisfaction of patients with such treatment. They also look into the potential of penile prostheses in the treatment of peyronic disease. The option of using genetically engineered tissue in the treatment of erectile dysfunctions is also mentioned.
