Overview

The paper presents the potential of ultrasonic diagnostics in urology. It describes the most common renal and scrotal pathologies and their ultrasonic correlates. Ultrasonic methods can be recommended for non-invasive examination in virtually all patients suspected of renal or scrotal diseases at least in the first stage. They provide the correct diagnosis with sufficient accuracy in most of them. Other methods then can be used as supplementary wherever needed, e.g. to determine the therapy. Ultrasonic examination is also an ideal option available for monitoring the course of therapy.
