Overview

Spiral CT is a method that can guarantee a reliable evaluation of the size and location of urolithiasis and the state of the urinary collecting system in patients with renal colic without the need for contrast agent application. Almost all concrements including X-ray noncontrastive ones can be imaged and a potential other cause of the acute state may be detected. The method is sufficient to plan a therapeutic strategy without the need for further stressing examinations. The only remaining disadvantage is the radiation load, which is higher compared to other methods.
