Overview
Aim:
The autors evaluate the results of interdisciplinary treatment of 16 patients with posttraumatic tibial osteomyelitis.
Method:
Patients were treated with the extensive debridement of bone and soft tissue and subsequent muscle flap covering of the defect.
Results and conclusion:
The cure of infection and full limb weight-bearing with the average follow-up of 48 months support this technique for treatment of chronic tibial ostemyelitis.
