Overview
Platelets are an important part of circulation and hemostasis. They preserve vascular integrity by adhesion, shape change, aggregation, release reaction and procoagulant activities. Their hypofunction results in bleeding disorders, hyperfunction conversely to especially arterial thrombosis susceptibility. Current evaluating methods of platelet function represent wide scale of well sophisticated techniques. None of them alone can unfortunately completely inform about platelet function in actual patient. Therefore, there is a need to formulate a standard universal evaluating algorithm for the use of platelet function tests. In addition, this necessity has been highlighted today by so-called resistance to antiplatelet agents.
Key words:
platelets, evaluating methods, bleeding disorders, arterial thrombosis, resistance to antiplatelet agents
