Overview
This pilot study compares electromyographic activity of chosen muscles of lower limb during ground level walking between probands with knock knees and group of people without this issue. The experiment involved 10 probands, 7 women and 3 men, in age from 21 to 27. To determine who belongs to which group were each proband investigate by intermalleolar distance. By surface EMG were measured these muscles on both legs of each person: tibialis anterior muscle, gastrocnemius lateralis muscle, vastus medialis muscle, adductor magnus muscle, semimembranosus muscle, tensor fasciae latae muscle during ground level walking on treadmill of constant speed 3 km/h. Normalized average values of 10 strides and average values of stance phase of 10 strides were evaluated and then were results of probands from both groups statistically compared. The results showed that activity of gastrocnemius lateralis muscle and tensor fasciae latae muscle was increased in group of probands with knock knees compared to the second group during gait in both evaluating parameters. Conclusion of the study reveals an option of purposeful physiotherapeutic intervention at patients with knock knees.
