Overview
Indirect mobilisation techniques make use of relief positions producing relaxation of dysfunctionalmovement segments, thus achieving normalisation of the range of movement and elimination ofmyofascial trigger points. The “functional method“ achieves this by first giving support to the patientin the relief position: after this he remains relaxed while the therapist returns gradually to positionswhich were previously painful. Making use of „counterstrain“ the relief position is exaggerated untilmaximum range is reached and in this position the patient renains for 90 secunds before slowlyreturning to neutral.
