Overview

The aim of these questionnaires was to get the feedback from participants of the 3rd Czech–Slovak Congress of Otorhinolaryngology in 2009. The scientific program had different structure than previous congresses

From 347 questionnaires having been sent by email 50 returned. 38 questionnaires were answered completely. The questions were aimed at differences between this congress and the previous ones, for example the shift of congress days to working days, English as an official language, emphasis on round tables and instructional curses and their price, short poster lectures, exhibition hall and social events.

The congress attendance was not less than 90% in working days. English as the official language of the congress was positively evaluated by majority of participants. 54% of respondents visited the scientific program in both languages - Czech/Slovak and English - equally. 96% of respondents evaluated positively the structure of congress (round tables, instructional courses, free lectures, short poster lectures and posters). Instructional courses (70%) and round tables (56%) were the most popular among the visitors. The price of instructional courses was evaluated as adequate (66%). The first social event - Opening Ceremony at the National house in Vinohrady - met expectations (89%). The second social event - Social Evening at La Fabrica - was less popular. A lot of participants visited the Exhibition hall (94%) and the majority of them evaluated it as beneficial (84%). The short poster lectures were evaluated as beneficial by 76% of respondents.

Although acquired data are limited by low percentage of answered questionnaires (only 14%) we may come to next conceptual conclusions: Round tables and instructional courses in English, which were headed by the renowned foreign speakers, satisfied the majority of visitors. Emphasis on English as an official language was not felt negatively. Instructional courses as news of the congress program were evaluated highly positively. Short poster lectures as the second news of the congress program were felt as beneficial.

These data may be very useful for the organizers of the subsequent otorhinolaryngological congresses.
