Overview

In 2009, total 1313 occupational diseases (1245 occupational diseases and 68 endangered by occupational diseases) were reported in the Czech Republic. The drop of 6.4% of reported occupational diseases was recorded compared to 2008. Incidence of occupational diseases was 30.9 cases per 100 thousand insured employers in 2009. Similarly to previous years, the most professional diseases were reported from the Moravian and Silesian Region (24.1% cases). In 2009, the most ill was found in workers in the economic field of „health and social care“ (16.3% cases). The syndrome of the carpal tunnel was the most frequently diagnosed syndrome in the category of occupational disease and risk of occupational disease (total 354, i.e. 27% cases).
