Prevention of cardiovascular diseases is one of the priorities of current cardiology. Authors describe the first experience with theproject of prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the staff of the Faculty Hospital in Olomouc. In the pilot project, 418 women and82 men filled in the questionnaire on main risk factors of cardiovascular diseases during the preventive examination. Nurses of theDepartment of Preventive Cardiology completed the collected data and attributed the size of risk of cardiovascular diseaseaccording to the tables. The physician evaluated the protocol and recommended a targeted intervention. The paper presentsprevalence of risk factors in the studied group and compares it to the prevalence in general population. The medium and high riskof cardiovascular diseases in last 10 years was found in 13.4 % of the staff. The pilot project confirmed simplicity of evaluation ofcardiovascular risk. Authors recommend the prevention of cardiovascular diseases to become a part of preventive examinations.
