Nicotine replacement therapy doubles the success rate in smoking cessation during all intervention levels – so itseffectiveness is higher with the most intensive support. The patient can choose the NRT form since the effectivenessdoes not differ substantially. Nicotine replacement therapy should be offered to each nicotine dependent smokerwilling to stop. In the case ofab stinence the treatment should be taken at least 6 to 8 weeks.
