Overview
Author presents an overview of ethiopathogenic factors, diagnostic and therapeutical possibilities of functionalgastrointestinal disorders. The key role in ethipathogenesis is now credited to the motility disorders, visceralhypersensitivity, psychosocial factors and to neurohumoral agents. Diagnosis is still difficult because of thepolymorphic clinical signs. In praxis the disease is often diagnosed by excluding organic causes of complaints.Therapy includes awide scale of remedies. The choice depends on the clinical symptomatology. Therapeutic approachmust be complex; beside the pharmacological treatment, an important place has psychotherapy and improvement ofthe personal regime. In spite of the present progress, it is necessary to widen our knowledge on the ethiopathogesyand thus to improve the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities.
