Geriatric care as the impulse for implementing a new concept of infection prevention and control

Overview

The growing number of hospitalised seniors was one of the reasons why a new concept of infection prevention and control was successfully introduced in the University Hospital Brno, between the years 2011 and 2015. In practice it is based on the nurses’ work in terms of infection prevention and control, partnership approach and multidisciplinary cooperation. When forming the system, we based our approach on texts by V. Jindrák, D. Hedlová a J. Prattingerová. The current concept of prevention and control of diseases associated with healthcare has been published in the News of the Epidemiology and microbiology centre in 2012.
