Occupational diseases reported in the Czech Republic in 2018

Overview

A total of 1,282 cases of occupation-related diseases in 1,034 workers were reported in the Czech Republic in 2018. Of these, 1,222 were occupational diseases and 60 cases were given the status of “endangerment by an occupational disease”. The incidence of occupational diseases was 27.2 cases per 100,000 health insured employees in the public sector. Most of the occupational diseases occurred in the Moravian-Silesian region (375 cases, i.e. 29.3%). Most of the recognized cases occurred in the “manufacture of motor vehicles” economic sector (169 cases, i.e. 13.2%). Carpal tunnel syndrome (411 cases, i.e. 33.6%) and contact allergic dermatitis (145 cases, i.e. 11.9%) were the most frequently reported occupational diseases. Among the cases reported as “endangerment by an occupational disease”, the carpal tunnel syndrome predominated (49 cases, i.e. 81.7%).
