Overview
We present the clinical case of a young man who suffers from paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis and proven testicle tumour. His neurological symptoms were evident more than 6 months before his tumour was diagnosed. Paraneoplastic antibodies were not drawn. This case demonstrates the difficulty with rare pathology seldom encountered by most physicians in their career. Attending physicians cannot arrive at a diagnosis based on their own experience. Diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty with these treacherous illnesses are very depressing for attending physician, patient and family. In our case a diagnosis was determined after requested consultation by a professor of neurology, who had a clinical experience with paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis.
