Overview
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder induced by the gliadin fraction of gluten. Intestinal symptoms in adults can be very undistinguishable whereas the extraintestinal symptoms dominate in the clinical picture of the disease. In our paper, we deal with metabolic and inflammatory joint symptoms, which can lead to the correct diagnosis and appropriate therapy of coeliac disease. To illustrate this, we present two case reports, which closely describe our diagnostic process.
Key words:
coeliac disease, malabsorption, osteomalatia, anti-transglutaminase antibodies, anti-endomysial antibodies, sacroileitis, Looser pseudofracture.
