Overview

The authors present a case-study of anaerobic sepsis following septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein caused by progression of paratonsillar infection during acute tonsillopharyngitis. All the features of the illness correspond to Lemierre syndrome, a recently rather rare but ever more emerging severe complication of acute tonsillopharyngitis.
