The article summarizes contemporary knowledge on gastrointestinal complications in diabetesmellitus. It presents synoptic information on the etiopathogenesis, symptoms, diagnostics, andtreatment of disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, hepatobiliarysystem, and the pancreas in diabetic patients. It points to the frequent overlapping of symptomsof complications in diabetes mellitus and other diseases, which may be the source of diagnosticerror.
