Overview
Eating disorders are among the most frequent diseases of young women and girls. They cause long-term difficulties not only to the affected subjects but also to their families, friends and employers.Gradually they interfere with the mental, social and professional life of the patients. On account of their chronic course and serious somatic, psychic and social consequences they belong to the most serious diseases of adolescents. Some symptoms of anorexia nervosa can be observed in as many as 6% girls at the end of puberty. From fear of obesity, dissatisfaction with their body, unsuitable dietary habits and ways how to „control" their body weight suffer nowadays also many adult women and men. The basic symptomatology has its logical development, biologcckl and logical impact. A change of dietary habits and nutrition implies interference with the complicated physiology of the organism which has also psychological and long-term social sequelae. The objective of the presented work is a comprehensive view of anorexia nervosa, possible intervention and evaluation of its effectiveness.
