Overview
Despite the fact that internal haemorrhoids are one of the most frequent diseases associated with civilization, their origin and the fundamental character of the disease are not clear. Therefore there are at present many local preparations with different reported effects. In our clinical study we evaluated in 40 patients in the hrst and second stage of the disease the effectiveness of the ointment Preparation H (Wyeth). On evaluation of our clinical investigation 35 of 40 patients reported subjective improvement and in 33 of 40 we recorded also objective improvement. None of the patients observed deterioration of complaints during treatment. We assume that in view of the tested effectiveness and low toxicity Preparation H could become a useful antihaemorrhoidal preparation.
Key words:
internal haemorrhoids - conservative treatment - Preparation H.
