Overview
Pregnancy in diabetic women takes only a small part of diabetology, but it is high risk pregnancy. Intrauterine development and viability of the foetus in pregnancy of diabetic women depends on preconception care and metabolic compensation of diabetes mellitus itself. This article deals with contraception methods and preconception care of diabetic women type 1 and 2. It summarizes the recommended approaches and new trends in care of women with diabetes mellitus.
Key words:
contraception – diabetes mellitus – maternal morbidity – perinatal morbidity – preconception care – pregnancy
