Overview

Tuberculosis (TBC) is the serious disease spreaded worldwide. Despite the effort of many health care organisation and national programmes tuberculosis was eradicated in no country all over the world sofar. The Slovakia has, because of the long time elaborated system in detection, treatment and monitoring of the patients, the long lasting favorable situation and downward trend in incidence of tuberculosis, and the situation in children tuberculosis is the same. There was the newborn BCG vaccination cancelled in the 2012 and since the time we notice the accumulation of the total number of tb cases and increased number of serious, hematogenously disseminated forms of tb and tb cases in small children at the age of 0 to 4 years at the same time. For the present the most often are tuberculous meningoencephalitis and tuberculous spondylodiscitis.
