Overview
Regurgitation is frequently encountered in infants under one year of age. It is a frequent reason why parentsof these children see a paediatrician or child gastroenterologist. It can be the manifestation of „physiological“gastrooesophageal reflux where treatment starts by dietetic modifications such as thickening of the milk formula. The authors used for treatment in 51 bottlfed infants a milk formula thickened with fibre from the fruit of thecarob three: Nutrilon A.R. The group comprised 38 boys and 13 girls aged 6 weeks to 10 months. In 31 patients(60.78%) there was a marked decline of regurgitation episodes during Nutrilon treatment. The grade of regurgi-tation dimminished also and the children thrived.
