Overview
Primary cicatricial alopecias are an uncommon group of disorders causing irreversible damage to hair follicles leading to scarring and permanent hair loss. The current classification based on the type of predominant inflammatory cellular infiltrate, epidemiology, pathogenesis and diagnostic approach is presented and the most common clinical entities including classic lichen planopilaris, Graham-Little syndrome, frontal fibrosing alopecia, chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus, classic pseudopelade of Brocq and folliculitis decalvans are discussed.
Key words:
alopecia – cicatricial – primary – classification – pathogenesis – diagnostics - clinical characteristics – therapy
