Overview
Authors describe a case of tinea barbae with serious clinical course. Infiltrated lesions with fistulae, abundant purulent discharge, abscess formation in the bearded area of the face and neck dominated a clinical picture. Cultivation yielded Trichophyton mentagrophytes, var. mentagrophytes. A camel was supposed to be a source of infection. Prolonged systemic antimycotic therapy was necessary to cure the disease.
