Overview

Incidence of diabetic nephropathy rises rapidly. This is consequent to type 2 diabetes epidemic as well as the fact that, due to the advances in modern medicine, patients live longer. Vascular nephropathy almost regularly also occurs in diabetics-seniors on the background of physiological changes to the kidneys in older age. Through this, kidneys become vulnerable to other influences, particularly adverse events associated with pharmacological treatments. Acute vasomotor renal failure then easily occurs. Rational and careful pharmacotherapy of diabetic patients respecting any co‑morbidities forms the basis of prevention and treatment of progressing renal insufficiency.

Keywords:
diabetic nephropathy – vascular nephropathy – vasomotor renal function failure – iatrogenic pharmacological renal impairment
