Overview
Displaced and luxation fractures of the mandibular condyle require surgicalreposition and fixation under direct sight supervision. Application of lag screws from theEckelt-Martin instrumentation set has proved successful in treatment of 15 patients. Noconsiderable complications occurred. The mandible is fully functional during the time of healing. An intermaxillary fixation, which is uncomfortable for the patient, is not necessary to be done.Though, it is necessary to remove the screw subsequently by another surgical operation.Complete instrumentation set is necessary to be available for the choice of the described method.
