Overview
A manifestation of altered tolerance of dental metal materials is an immunereaction of the type of delayed hypersensitivity. For evidence of this reaction metal compoundsare used in skin tests or in the in vitro test of lymphocytes isolated from peripheral blood. Theuse of skin tests has however its limitations. The lymphocyte proliferation test can be howeverused for detection of the immune reaction to metals present in dental materials withoutrestriction.
