Overview

The article describes the development of the concept of congruence, one of the core conditions for personality change in the context of person-centered approach. The therapists attitudes were rather impersonal at the beginning of formulating the theory of the approach, later through congruence he/she could be fully present as a person in the relationship with the client and congruence became the most important relational condition. Commentary explores congruence in the review of central Roger´s writings and shows the possible aspects to study in connection with other significant concepts.
