Pharmacoeconomic Aspects in the Treatment of Depressive DisordersRational prescribing of drugs may lead to balanced health insurance budget. This problem is theobject of a relatively new brunch – pharmacoeconomics. This article follows some of the trendsin the treatment of depressive disorders and intends to present that the treatment with so calledexpensive psychopharmacs does not necessarily have to mean higher global costs. On the contrary itmay reduce them. This article compares direct and indirect expenses and shows that direct medicalexpenses are often only a little part of the global cost.
