Problems of changes of bone mineral density which are newly detected medical consequences ofeating disorders are discussed by the author. Osteopenia and osteoporosis are characterized bylow density of bones accompanied with a higher risk of fractures and stunting of growth, especiallyin early and mid-adolescence. The etiology of osteopenia and osteoporosis differs from the samemedical symptom psotmenopausal women and requires specific attention and an adequate therapeuticapproach.
