The 5th PhD and 3rd Postdoc Conference was traditionally organized by Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic on 3rd – 4th February 2015. The scientific program of conference included wide range of topics corresponding with University PhD Program in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Organic and Bioanalytical Chemistry. Thus, outstanding contributions from the field of Organic, Pharmaceutical and Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Clinical pharmacy as well as from History of Pharmacy were presented. The aim of the conference was to give a chance to PhD students and Postdocs to share their results with colleagues from different departments and especially to test the ability to present and discuss the scientific outcomes. Without any doubt, such meeting is also excellent opportunity to set new collaborations and discover new ideas for the research.
The conference was introduced by a short talk of dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove, Assoc. Prof. PharmDr. Tomáš Šimůnek, Ph.D., who warmly welcomed all participants and wished them a luck in their further research efforts. Then, more than 90 participants gave their talks, eight of them being Postdocs financed by European Union project Postdoc II UK (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/ 30.0061). Interestingly, the most of the contributors were presented in English to make understand also several participants from abroad (from Germany, Spain, Poland, Greece, India, etc.). More details can be found on http://www.faf.cuni.cz/5PGS-3PostDoc-Conference/.
All participants, supervisors as well as other people from audience rated the conference positively and found it as an ideal opportunity to meet people doing research in Pharmacy and related disciplines. To demonstrate the multidisciplinarity of Pharmacy, three presentations from different areas of Pharmacy were selected for their publication in journal Czech and Slovak Pharmacy to show modern approaches in PhD and Postdoc studies. It is good opportunity to convey our sincere thanks to PharmDr. Veronika Nováková, Ph.D. and PharmDr. Jaroslav Roh, Ph.D. for their excellent assistance in the Organizing Committee.
