The possibilities of treatment of chorioideal neovascular membrane (CNV) inage-related macular degeneration are very limited. Conservative treatment hasno effect, laser coagulation is accepted nowadays as the method of choice only ina selected group of patients and its results are more than disappointing. Surgicalextraction of subretinal neovascular membranes opens wider opportunities forimprovement of optic functions in indicated patients, in the majority it makestheir stabilization possible. The authors present a group of their own 20 patients where extraction of CNVwas performed. They describe the technique of extraction, indications and results.
