The authors present an account of a 78-year-old female patient with bilateraliridoschisis. The disease was present in the lower portions of the iris. The pupilwas centred, mobile. Part of the ruptured fibres of the iris floated freely in theanterior chamber. The cornea was not decompensated. The patient had open angleglaucoma and cataract. The method of choice in the treatment of the condition islaser iridotomy or microsurgical iridectomy and extractation of the cataract withimplantation of PC IOL. Conservative treatment attempts to prevent possibledamage of the optic nerve.
