Overview
The authors tested in a group of 53 operated eyes in 30 sick children the changesof the extent of astigmatism, change of its axis as well as changes of correctedvisual acuity - all that after surgery of the affected eye. The children were examinedunder equal conditions closely before surgery and one week and two months aftersurgery.Increased astigmatism was found more frequently only during the second check-up:in 24%operated eyes (by 0.5Dpt 13% and by 1.0 Dpt in another 11%).They foundalso a change in the axis of astigmatism after weakening of the m.obl.inf.,due tomyectomy without suture, by 5 to 30 degrees in the direction of incyclorotationof the eye. Vision with correction was deteriorated only slightly to 4,in theoringinally amblyopic eyes. A slight deterioration of the visual acuity is ascribedby the authors to delay of the formerly used occlusion rather than to a change ofastigmatism or its axis.
