Overview
Association of outpatient providers of internal medicine – SAI (www.saicr.cz), has set as its main goals by 2023: increasing reimbursements for outpatient internists, increasing young physicians´ interest to work in outpatients internal medicine practices and introducing measurable parameters for the continuous improvement of the quality of care. One of the main pillars on which the fulfillment of these goals is based is the introduction of quality care programs in cooperation with health insurance companies. Osteoporosis was selected as a pilot project because patients who already have confirmed osteoporosis or have an increased risk of osteoporotic fractures represent a significant proportion of clients at outpatient internists. In February 2021, the Q-OSTEOPOROSIS project (www.qosteoporosis.com) has been launched, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Czech Industrial Health Insurance Company (www.cpzp.cz), the Czech Society for Metabolic Skeletal Diseases of the Czech Republic (www.smos.cz), OAKS Consulting Ltd. (www.oaks.cz) and Institute of Biostatistics and Analyses, Ltd. (www.biostatistika.cz ). The goal of the Q-OSTEOPOROSIS program is to provide comprehensive care for patients at risk of potential osteoporotic fractures according to guidelines and evidence based medicine, which will be predictable for the health system in terms of benefits, costs and long-term financial sustainability and will bring a significant reduction in the incidence of osteoporotic fractures in the long term horizon.
