Overview

Arterial hypertension is the cause and consequence of functional disability (endothelial dysfunction) and of structural organ and vascular injury (multiple organ multiple vascular disease). Blood vessels are culprits, implements and victims of arterial hypertension and of organ and vascular arterial diseases. The authors present an overview of fixed antihypertensive two-drug combinations registered and categorised in the Slovak Republic. Higher patient compliance, adherence and persistence and thus better control and prognosis of arterial hypertension are the main advantages of fixed combinations.
