Overview
Mitral stenosis of post-rheumatic etiology is nowadays a very rare disease in developed countries. Currently, it is encountered in clinical practice exclusively in elderly seniors. The occurrence of this disease at a younger age is extremely rare in the Czech Republic. However, the fact is that mitral stenosis remains, even today, a serious medical and socio-economic issue in developing countries.
