Overview
The article summarizes basic information about etiology and importance of sudden cardiac death in general population. The main topic of the text is the assessment of sudden cardiac death risk as well as a primary prevention of arrhythmic death in particular patients’ groups. Some of the recommendations for prophylactic ICD implantation are also included.
Key words:
sudden cardiac death, primary prevention, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, malignant arrhythmias
