Overview
In this review article anaesthesia with low-flow and minimal-flow of fresh gases is defined, its advantages and disadvantages, indications, contraindications and monitoring requirements are presented. Techniques with variable or fixed fresh gas flow and vaporizer settings, anaesthesia maintenance, increasing or decreasing the depth of anaesthesia and its reversal including the technique of coasting are described.
Keywords:
low-flow anaesthesia – sevoflurane – desflurane
