Overview
Penil carcinoma belongs with its low incidence of less than 0,5% of all male oncological diseases to rare tumours. Phimosis and insufficient hygiene are important risk factors. On the contrary the circumcision in the childhood has proved a protection effect. We prove spinocellular carcinoma in more than 95% of patients. Stage I and II are usually curable by both surgical ablation or organ preserving methods (brachytherapy, laserablation etc). Patients´ survival is dependent on nodal affection (N+). Patients without clinically positive nodal affection with infiltrating tumours (> T2), high tumour grading and proved vascular invasion benefit from lymphadenectomy. Lymphadenectomy of palpable nodes usually followed after at least 4-6 weeks of antibiotic therapy. The role of chemotherapy both adjuvant and nonadjuvant, eventually primary in generalized diseases, is nowadays evaluated in prospective clinical studies.
