Overview
Aim of the study:
The aim is evaluated incidence of complications which occured by intramedullary nailing of proximal femur fractures and introduce solution of this complications.
Material and methods:
There were 532 patients operated on for proximal femur fractures in period of 6 years. The authors evaluated the group of 415 patients with 417 fractures and dealed with following complications: mortality in seven days from operation, early failure of osteosynthesis, nonunions, varus malunion, infection, haematoma required surgical procedure, avascular necrosis of femor head and the number of reoperation.
Results:
There were recorded 49 complications (11,9 %).
Conclusion:
The nail TARGON PF is a reliable implant for fixation of proximal femur fractures with good biomechanical property. Careful preoperative planing, accurate technical realization and correct postoperative management is necessary for successful healing of this fractures.
Key words:
proximal femur fractures, complications, intramedullary nailing.
