Overview

International based comparison of evaluation of indications, instrumentations, substitute solutionsand side effects of therapeutic hemapheresis is necessary. The purpose of registries is to use reciprocalcomparative data to improve the quality of performances, follow the potential advantages of apheresisin particular diagnosis and to reduce side effects. Previously have been established national apheresisregistries in Canada, Sweden, France and Norway.World Apheresis Association (WAA) was establishedin 2003 and is Internet based available for free. All workplaces can enter close information about everyprocedure (diagnosis, type of performance, used technique, venous access, substitute solution, weight, height and gender of the patient and eventual complications). Central registry is placed at Universityin Umeå, Sweden. Registry enable randomization of patients and studying of the treatment in details. The first center participating withWAA registry in the Czech Republic was the center of haemathologyFNsP in Ostrava and has entered information about 216 performances (plasmapheresis, cytapheresis, imunoadsorption) in the period between 1st June 2003 and 31st June 2004. According to our experiencesentering the data into the register is fast, smooth, but sometimes ambiguous and subjective. Extensityof some parts of the data is redundant. Several critical comments are given to the system of registry, which canmake the system reasonableandmore easier (e.g.more objective evaluationof patient clinicalstatus, locking out of incomplete forms, possibility of subsequent data correction). Annual registryoutcome is a perfect background for publishing and scientific work. We are expecting that otherworkplaces from the Czech Republic will participate or that Czech apheresis association could beeventually established in the future.
